I hope you share something on his idea of surrender (something I have found to be very important in creative writing, but I'm curious how he sees it or brings it about).
Thanks Ellen! Yes his surrender concept is great. In the class, he’s talked about games he’s invented to bring the concept out in the writing process. When he asks us (hundreds of students) to write a song using a random combo of D and G chords, we have to collectively surrender to the process. But the results vary, and you’d barely be able to tell we were following the same prompt. Surrendering is an active process that doesn’t come naturally to me, but I’m enjoying the challenge.
